Welcome to First Lutheran Church!
I'm so glad you found us. I've been here since July of 2023 and want to share why you should visit First Lutheran Church.
First, it truly is a welcoming place. We are explicit in our welcome and a safe space for everyone, especially the LGBTQIA+ community. For decades, First Lutheran Church has been providing a safe, welcoming and affirming space. We want to build community with you.
Second, it is a caring place. In addition to providing a meeting space for local and grassroots organizations, First Lutheran operates a food pantry in cooperation with Dare To Care. We are here to serve in downtown Louisville for good.
Finally, it is a spiritual place. For more than 150 years, First Lutheran has been meeting spiritual needs by offering multigenerational worship in our beautiful sanctuary with a full pipe organ, gathering for study and growth in small groups, and supporting one another through the challenges of life. This is a spiritual place to many.
I hope you will join us for worship at 10:30 am every Sunday morning. And be sure to say "hi" to Martin Luther, the seven-foot bronze statue by Frederick Soetebier, who welcomes you when you enter the parking lot off of Broadway.
Blessings!
John
